I got a new shiny "19 LCD monitor from Acer a couple of weeks ago. I installed Bf2 on my new custom rig and I get barely playable frames on:

1280x1024 all high, no AA.

My rig is:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600
Ram: 2Gig 800
Graphics Card: BFG 8500 GT OC
Power Supply: 380w.
Audio: Onboard Sound (should have gone dedicated )

Any idea why its lagging, tech guys? I would think I would have the firepower to crank it up, its not that demanding a game anyways...

I updated the video drivers; is my video card too slow? Could it be my processor?

Thanks, much appreciated .

Well, the thing is, 8600GT can handle BF2 all high. 8500GT will not. Ever. Don't even try.

Put AA off and settings on medium and you can run it again.

I lol'd at this thread.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

That's funny. Everyone thinks these 8xxx series cards are uberawsm, but yet my 7900 can run BF2 all high, 60-90fps.

8600GT is better than 7900GT.

I own both cards.

8500 and 8400 however, well, they are shit.

E8500 256 is about equal to a GeForce 6600 (Not GT).
E8400 is somewhere between GeForce 6200 and 6600.

There isnt much difference between medium and high anyway and on top of that you hardly notice it when flying/gunning/tanking/hopping around

Tbh, I notice a huge difference between maxed out on my gaming rig, and hed/high on my laptop.
