got it on the 17/07/08. It should have a serial but i will ring and ask about this s/n numberScorpion0x17 wrote:
Hmm... None of them look like a serial number, they're usually labelled 'S/N:' or similar.
When did you buy it?
ok, ebuyer have taken away my PSU, now im wondering, for about £60-£70 MAX, what PSU should i get from Ebuyer???
about 600-650w PSU will be great.
http://www.ebuyer.com/search?store=2&am … ubcat=2591
there are 3 pages of them
do give more than one choice as Ebuyer does have limited stock on certain PSU's

Before you do anything, if you haven't done this already, check how many Watts your system needs.
I would also, before buying, email the manufacturer of the PSU you intend to buy - quote your exact specs (include everything even down to the number of fans in the case) and ask them if the desired PSU will supply enough Amps on the different voltage lines for that setup - Amps are way more important than Watts (as I have a feeling Freezer will be along to tell you)...
Now, of those two listed PSUs, I'd go with the Antec, but that's only 'cos I've never used a Coolermaster PSU so have no personal experience of them, but I have used Antec PSUs (and other Antec stuff (cases, fans, etc)) and have always found them to be of very high quality.
the calculator is recommending 380W, a bit strange seeing that the 8800gt needs about 450w. Im looking for about 600W-650W as i plan to add more stuff to my computer, such as a blue ray drive, another hard drive or 2 and will look to upgrade my GPU in 3 months or so. a bit of head way will be great.Scorpion0x17 wrote:

the antec has 3 12v rails and the cooler master has 2 12v rails, and that isn't meant to be good
is this a better PSU??? specs on the page, has 80% efficiency aswell

1. An 8800gt does not use 450w, they may recommend that you use a 450W PSU with it, but it doesn't need 450W all to itself.rammunition wrote:

2. A PSU could have 6 12v rails, but if it only provides 2 Amps per rail, then it's shit - it's not the number of rails, but rather the number Amps per rail that is important.
3. Unfortunately, getting reliable information about component power requirements is next to impossible - hence I recommend emailing the PSU manufacturer, listing your full system specs and asking whether the PSU you want to buy will power that set-up, before purchasing.
Oh, and I should have said before - always add 10% to any calculated Wattage requirements.
Now, if my understanding of your system specs is correct, pretty much any 600-650W should do, but as I've already said, email the manufacturer before purchase.

btw i ordered the cooler master 620W PSU as i asked on another forum and the comments on it were favorable. its a gaming PSU so it should be enough power
Unfortunately I'm not in a position to answer that - getting reliable ampage requirements for components in notoriously difficult - hence I suggested emailing the PSU manufacturer with your full systems specs before placing an order - they are in a position to answer that question - and they should be more than willing to help - if they're not, I would choose a different manufacturer.rammunition wrote:

Now, I didn't want to comment on specific models of PSU because I've never used the specific models you're looking at and I've never built a system with the exact same specs as yours - which is the only other way to find out for sure whether a particular model of PSU is up-to-the-job (i.e. either buy one and give it a try, or find someone with the exact same specs and same PSU). However, I have heard good things about Coolermaster PSUs and the one you've ordered will probably be just fine.
(getting the right PSU has to be the most annoying part of building a PC)

ok, i got the power supply today, runs well, played cod4 for 10 minutes so problems, seem the PSU was the issue after all.

Though, 10mins of CoD4 is not quite enough of a test to be 100% sure...
But it's a good sign.
I had this problem until I installed AVG, then when my free trial expired I got AntiVir
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
and finally, the last check ups on my new PSU. here is a link of my temps/volts on idle, software used is HWMonitor, i believe the same guys who made CPU-Z/GPU-Z also made this.
on idle
underload using furmark with 2X anti anlizzzing thingy
the temp jumps up 17'C, but still seem good themps.
are the volts ok???
if the images aren't clear, the the pictures on my photobucket page so check them there
