It's the same as Boxing, Psyching you opponents out and all that. Maybe it helps him.usmarine wrote:

True but when you can beat the world record opponents don't really matter. loljord wrote:

Yep gloat away he is fast. If he was white would you care how much he gloated?
It's about nationality. He could even have lived in Jamaica less than he has in the USA, but he could still run for Jamaica if he wanted to and was eligible to. Besides all these US universities probably offer them scholarships because they want them so bad.usmarine wrote:

are you reading? i dont care what you do after you win. i hate all the crap before the race. the posing and stupid shit. i hate it in the NFL and NBA also. is it my fault that all the runners last night were black?jsnipy wrote:

no. its about taking my tax money then performing for another country. i dont like that tbh.Mek-Stizzle wrote:

Technically, it is supposed to be an amateur race.usmarine wrote:

And as for your tax dollars going to them and then they run for another country? Well your tax dollars didn't go to the "Potential Olympics Fund". They went to the university, who then decided to spend it on whomever. The athletes competing there (hopefully) bring in more money and prestige for the university. To me it's like the whole "It takes money to make money" kind of thing. We give the universities money, in order for them to use it and turn it around. The fact that they choose to spend the most on athletics is appalling, but another argument for another day.
amateur? they all have agents ffs.oChaos.Haze wrote:

and it still does not change the fact that US tax money goes to lure them from their countries. that is a fact. you cant really dance around that.
I said technically, lol.
I never said it changes the fact, I probably agree with you somewhat, just not on the Olympics end. The tax dollars were never earmarked for anything to do with the Olympics. Imagine if you as an American, were offered a sporting position in Zimbabwe, and it paid really well and let you use your strengths to be the greatest, and the money you made was Zimbabwe tax dollars. Cool. But when the Olympics rolled around, would you be competing for Zimbabwe?

I'll be flat honest with you, as an Aussie teenager, I thought he was a dickhead. Having said that, I still believe that he has the right and excuse to showboat, and I smiled at it, it entertained me and I enjoyed it. Not a big deal, not up himself.usmarine wrote:

Conclusion: As a teenager of 18 years and 8 months I thought he was a dickhead, but in a "mate" sort of way. I think i'm getting old

He's an amazing runner, and he's livening up a sport that isn't really very lively with his antics. He seems like a perfectly reasonable person in interviews.
He isn't taking your tax money. You're giving them to the universities to spend on whatever they want, and they in turn give their to him. Are you seriously suggesting that he should sell his nationality for a scholarship? That doesn't sound very patriotic to me.usmarine wrote:

if you want to go to a state school and use taxpayer money, you should have to be a citizen. and if you are a citizen, you cant perform for another country. dont read too much into it. its as simple as that.mikkel wrote:

Then you should blame the system, not the person. He's accepting offers, not abusing the system.usmarine wrote:

i do blame the system. i blame him for his stupid ass antics. even the IOC thinks he is acting like an ass.mikkel wrote:

so let me ask you, why didnt you see swimmers, divers, gymnasts, etc act like that?
Running is traditionally a more prestigious event, and being able to run fast is better than being able to do flips and shit off a wooden plank into some water.usmarine wrote:

i find it more boring, and i have the ratings to back me up on that. but, it does not matter. each of those in the other sports are the best in the world at what they do, yet dont pose and hop around like a fucking PCP addict.
dont like him
