Okay, I plug my computer in, turn on the psu. The side fan lights up spastically, and then stops. I hear two pops, and then smell some acidic smoke.... (like when i blew up a small LED in class). Turn off the psu, unplug.
I've gathered that I've fried it, but is it possible it took out some other things with it? I'm kinda leaning towards upgrading now, then, but don't have a lot of money....
A friend has recently messaged me
Also, if I did go the upgrade route, I'd need new memory, case (and PSU ofc)...
At the least, please recommend some good, cheap PSU's....

I already have a 19"widescreen (so, dual monitors FTW!). Old/current setup is Asus A8932-MVP Deluxe, AMD 3000+, 1GB Corsair DDR, ATI x1600pro. I'm thinking all my friend's stuff would be an upgrade, but is it worth $360? Would it last longer than what I currently have? (Needs: Gaming w/CoD4, word/Email/Design programs, No overclocking planned. It all works on my old/current rig)I have some PC parts available if you are interested. I have a e6300 core 2 duo for 65$. A intel p965 mobo for 55$. A 7900gt for 70$. A 19in widescreen digital flat panal LCD monitor for 170$
