Hi,

I'd like to know which is the best for gaming.
I was going to buy the E8400 Intel Dual core, but I was wondering if maybe the Quad core is even better for gaming than that?

Thanks,

Dual core especially if you're gonna OC. E8400 is a great choice.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

E8400 for gaming

edit: guy in the link that sup gave has a Q9450 2.66Ghz at 3.6Ghz (450FSB x 8), now how would he be keeping that cool on 100%?

That I gave

And a Q9450 at 3.66 is not very hot. It produces less heat than a P4, and you can cool a P4 at 4GHz with an F7P.

Anyways, back on topic, I have an e8400, and I love it.

My mobo sucks so I can't get it past 3.56GHz, but it easily does 4GHz on air, and I have water. When I upgrade my mobo, we will see what I can hit.

Pics of your water setup please!!! I'm thinking of getting water for my CPU at first.

For gaming, DC.

But quads are tight in general, trust me.

I have a Q9450 at 3.5GHz, and I'm using a Zalman 9700NT (or LED) :S

By the Way what's the most accurate temp reading app.

Try Real Temp or Core Temp. Real temp is a must for C2Ds.

Q9300 @ 3.3 GHz, using a Zalman CNPS9500 LED.  Unfortunately my voltages are really high so right now my idle temps are 33-33-39-39.
