hi guys, i have a problem. so in a few weeks i am going to uni, i need a lap top. i am unsure as to what type of lap top or what specs i should be looking for. i was hoping maybe someone in the know could help me out or if anyone else has or is going to uni they know what to get.
specs wise, im really not sure what i need for example do i really need a CD drive? how big is the memory i need? this is wher ei need help and i need pointing in the right direction.
  • i will be using the laptop for work. a gaming laptop would distract me from the task at hand (work)
  • it needs to be good enough to watch media like videos, music watch youtube etc.
  • im unsure whether parents are going to help me out on this one so i need a laptop that is round about the £150 max (it can be over by £10)
  • and a lap top at higher end, im unsure at how expensive this would be im hopeing it wouldnt be more than £350-£400

any help no matter how little it is, is appreciated.
thanks in advance
.Sup
be nice

Hey yogi, regarding CD drive you never know if you will need one at uni, you might get an assignment on a CD or something and you might need it. Besides the laptops without a CD drive are even more expensive since they are smaller, lighter and there are more components that need to be squeezed into the small chassis.

HP makes some good inexpensive laptops. I see you wan't a lappy under 150pounds. Thats a shame cos you get a poor specs ed lappy for that low amount of money, imo not worth buying at all. i don't even know if a lappy exists for 150 pounds.
This is the cheapest one I could find: http://www.bof.si/sl/product.cp2?guid=4 … ;linkid=15

I can only suggest something for that second lappy (350-400pounds):

HP 6715S
TOSHIBA L300-17O
ASUS X51L
LENOVO N200

Freezer7Pro
I don't come here a lot anymore.

EeePC tbh.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

ah i see, i didnt know how much these laptops cost i had no idea. well this certainly puts me in a difficult position. i may reconsider getting a laptop then. i did search on a few other sites too as now i have more information but it does look like they are too expensive for me for just simple plain specs.

i meant find a laptop within the £150 budget and find one in the £350-£400 budget and show me. so show me 2 laptops even though im looking for 1.
