How would he do what's best for your country if he couldn't get into office in the first place?

I am scarred forever by the image of 2 old dudes playing tonsil hockey.

I have always liked the Jewish short guy.

But, aside from that, the parties have become blurred to the point that they are one massive behemoth, needing a tranquilizer.

So if this were to happen, would it be fair to say that the Republican party would not have a candidate in this election?

I don't think it'll be Romney.  Here's what I see.  Not even a day after Obama announced that Biden would be his VP, the Republican party already has released commercials about some of the bad things Biden said about Obama while Biden was on the campaign trail.  However, Romney also said some fairly derogatory comments about McCain while he was trying to win the Republican Party nomination.  It would be very shortsighted of the Republican Party to release this advertisement while knowing full well they would be subject to the same criticism.

Shortsigthedness has become a hallmark of the Republican party American politics at this point.  You make a good point, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is lost on the leadership of the RNC.
