I don't know if I'm the first one to see this, I seriously doubt it, but I've never heard this before. While playing today, after quite recently coming back to playing BF2 after a long time of playing CSS, I hopped on a really fun 24/7 Dalian and had the opportunity to constantly fly jets and helis on both teams round after round and got to dogfight against several very skilled Chopper teams and 3-Star General jet pilots which was a nice challenge and change of pace from CSS and old BF2. Anyways, the point being, I switched between J10's and F35's through several rounds and I happened to notice some things.
I realized why F35's are somewhat inferior. They usually can't turn near as sharp, except maybe if you put on the afterburner while turning it seemed (joysticks help), and they don't go as fast which ultimately makes it much harder to track the J10. Also the infamous lock-on inability. But, does it really not lock on?
I think it does even if it says its not. There were several several times that it said it wasn't locked on (this was after I made sure he dropped his flares as using a joystick helped me track him easier) and I fired off 2-3 missiles and they actually hit and killed the J10 from full health. There was also several times that it said it wasn't locked on, as the J10 was near the edge of my screen and they have a tighter turn radius, that I fired off 3 missiles optimistically and about 5 seconds after giving up once the J10 went off my screen my missiles actually hit and killed him. This happened many times and, using this new insight, I could easily take on a J10. This new insight just made me usually fire missiles when i normally wouldn't and...well...that's about it. This tended to work with helicopters as well but I usually had to slow down to make sure they drop their flares on time. This technique seemed to work after the pilot dropped his flares.
So, this thread was made mainly to see what other people thought, if they've had this same experience, or if everyone knows this and I'm just a complete dumbass. So, discuss, provide other techniques for F35's vs J10's, etc what ever you want.
