All these people bashing on particular genres and saying it all sounds terrible or it all sounds the same obviously haven't listened to the right stuff. There's amazing music from every genre, you just have to find it and not be stupid enough to listen to the most popular stuff (because the popular stuff is usually shit).

I also listen to House and trance allot, there are really to many DJ's to name and to many subgenre's. With house you have like: dirtyhouse, minimal house, eclectic house etc. etc.

For some good house music lurk around youtube, search artists like deadmau5, pryda, kaskade, croocker. You should also download some good albums like serious beats, eclectic beats ( volume 5 &6 are awsm). PM if you want, I'll dig up some awesome mixes/albums from my collection.

Also, here are some dirtyhouse mixes(awesome at clubs), free for download, completely legal: http://www.vato.nl/page.php?id=202

Anything Balearic Beat (the original summer sound of Ibiza);

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balearic_Beat

Quite an old-fashioned sub-genre nowadays, has definitely passed the "hey-day". Still you can dig up some old compilation albums and mixes on the Internet if you look hard enough!

Oh and to anyone ripping on genres from their elitist-stool... fuck off . ViktorVaughn for a person with a (seemingly) discerning music-taste I'm sure you'd be able to identify with me if I said all hip-hop and instrumental hip-hop was crap because of 50 Cent and The Game. You're just drawing on the worst possible examples that are as far away from the 'true' sound and true talent of the genre as can be. Every musical genre (with only a few comical expceptions) has its merits and its place within musical culture and history.

Look up anything on the Ibadan label (try the album Ibadan People). Also search for Jerome Sydenham.

The Last Resort by Trentemøller is a great LP Was listening to it just yesterday in fact!

Strays into minimal and minimal techno quite a lot, but does it so well... still worth checking out!

I don't disagree with that altogether, but what you said was "Hours and hours of the Amen Break looped, cut and rescratched is hardly comparable to music you'd dance to in a club" which is rubbish.

Deekline & Wizard, totally their own music, not cut and rescratched.

Vilham the first drum-beat that comes in on that song is a sample of the Amen Break All drum'n'bass, breakbeat, breakcore etc. relies heavily on the old 'classic' drum loops and rhythms... it's not a bad thing or a negative aspect- I'm just saying it is not danceable in the same way and form that the traditional 4/4 drum rhythms of house and club music are. Very different vibe altogether.

Still a good tune though!

I do like breakbeat you tool, learn to read. For the third post in a row I will repeat it just has different rhythmic qualities and drum-lines to those characteristically attributed to house and dance music, thus it is inappropriate to recommend it in this thread. Although I must say the video you posted is a rather terrible example of said genre; it's like the Scooter of breakbeat.

Oh and my name (Uzique) comes from u-Ziq, because IDM is my favourite genre of music ever. Period. If you want to talk about Aphex Twin or any of the other paragons of the genre (e.g. Autechre, Boards of Canada, Squarepusher etc.) then I am more than happy to do that. Ellen Alien is nowhere near IDM and never has been- she's German electro / house at best; even her self-owned record label Bpitch Control describes her as the same.

Really? I knew she wasn't as IDM as the others you mentioned, but the only album of hers I've heard was her and Apparat's "Orchestra of Bubbles", which isn't exactly dance or anything like that. However I did find some more of her stuff recently and I'll adjust accordingly

That's a great album but Apparat is very much the IDM contributor .

The closest Ellen has ever been to 'IDM' is her latest album Sool- which is very minimal and glitchy. Still she plays it all in the big superclubs and it is dance-able, which is pretty much the antithesis of IDM haha!
