That one is by far the best.

Crazy shots. I've always wanted to go to Yosemite. Perhaps in time for the Super Volcano!

Vermont shall do for now though.

I've done a lot of climbing there.
Cathedral Peak is one of my all time favorite climbs.

Stately Pleasure Dome, Lenticular Dome.  So many awesome climbs.

Cathedral Peak, if there are any climbers here, go about fifty feet to the left of the main 5.5 route and head up and left. Eventually you head into this awesome corner system that has old pitons from the 50's. Don't place any gear in the last 150' of the climb as rope drag will hang you up.

Great White Book was another amazing route. It's first pitch is a 180' off width crack.

btw Cathedral Peak regular route goes up the right side of this picture you took.

The main route is a 5.6 I think.  The way you are talking about (to the left) is the way to go if you are a newbie.  You still need to down climb about a 15 foot gap though.

John Muir's quote about Cathedral Peak - "This, I may say, is the first time I have been at church in California.".

More pics coming, in the process of uploading pics from the other two cameras I brought along.

I've got a beautiful one of Lower Cathedral Lake at about 7am with the mountain reflected in the calm water.  I'll post it as soon as it's uploaded to Photobucket.

When I did the S.E. Buttress is was rated 5.5

Aside from the crux 5.5 chimney, the way we took offered a plethora of choices in difficulty. We also passed about 10 parties. While I don't recall any difficult climbing I remember some nice cracks and chickenheads and thinking it felt 5.6-5.7.

I think we did the route car to car in about three hours.

Cool pics. I've never been to Yosemite, but I've been to Yellowstone. The landscape is awesome, even the sky is bigger there.

Looks like a great place for a nature walk... How long did it take you to get all over the place?

Back in '96 when me and a bro climbed El Capitan it was sunset as we topped out after five days.
You can't buy a ticket for that. Yosemite is the comparable valley and Toulumne is the crown.

My and the wife got married at the Awannee hotel in Yosemite. I wish I could post pix; it was like a dream in a meadow with a waterfalls surrounding us.

Burnzz, I can't wait to show you those pix when I get to SLC.

I never scanned my pix.

we went to the valley for about four hours, early in our marriage. got a picture from tunnel view, like 95% of the tourists do. we are staying in the Wowona Hotel, and plan to spend a day at Glacier Point.

Well, stop by the Solarium in the Awhanee, that's where we had our reception. Amazing room.

The prime rib in the Awhanee or The Mountain Room is always stellar.

Spoiler (highlight to read):
Not to be too personal, but one of lifes great experiences is having sex in the el Capitain meadow. Enter from the Big Stone side and walk out with a blanket a 1/4 mile or so. Enjoy each other under the shadow of the Cathedrals. Bring wine and cheese.
