You're just driving a car round and round for 60 laps.
Anyway... YAY!
You're not wrong with Motorstorm though.

You could make that argument for ANY game... I played GTA4, you just run around the city for hours killing people... I played TF2, all you do is run around a small map shooting cartoon characters, I played NHL 08 all you do is skate around hitting a puck...SEREVENT wrote:

Still, console racing "sims" kinda suck...They have to be too mass marketed, and no one wants to pay to be reminded they are incapable of driving an F1 car...
In your opinion, just like what you said aboveVicktorVauhn wrote:

Play.com is doing a deal. 2 platinium games for £25.
So you can get Uncharted, Motorstorm, R&C and Heavenly Sword for £50.

The first part about all the other games wasn't even really my opinion (other then the fact that I don't really get why TF2 is so great), I like the other two games, Just pointing out that describing it as "Just" running laps to make it sound boring works just as well for any other game...
As far as console "sims" not really being realistic... Well, I have never driven an F1 car true... But go watch the top gear were hamster does. They make fun of each other for not being good drivers, but they drive cars and talk about it for a living. From his job alone he has the track time and experience to be a better driver then most likely anyone on this forum, and the vast majority of those who would play video games... and even he found it a difficult car to drive, and couldn't really get much out of it. And while I haven't driven an F1 car, I have been in race cars before, have a couple years experience in racing myself, and am in my colleges racing team designing and building formula cars... Still have a lot to learn, but know enough to know when a game feels real.
I know the top gear guys did the GT4 thing with laguna, and other racing drivers have commented on the realistic feeling of the game... But NO game is gonna be like the real thing, and with out experience in both real life, and a variety of "sim" games its easy enough to say "yeah this feels real" because because the cars kinda react like realistic ....
However what I said about the marketing of console games is true, and the fact that niche computer "sim" games are miles beyond console racing games is not opinion.
Like I said, with out trying the range its easy enough for someone inexperienced with sims to find a game "good enough" and assume that the lack of realism in the game is due to the difference between actually being there, and sitting in your room... This gap will always exist to some extent but the niche racing sims of computers do a MUCH better job of closing that gap then mainstream games (especially codemasters, some of their games have been fun, but MILES away from a sim). It is much easier and more enticing for a small development team who would target a niche demographic to program for computers.
Does anyone know if the PS3 Price cuts have went into effect yet? or have they already been?

I bought the new 80GB one packaged with MGS4 2 days ago for $499. It's backwards compatible.
They also had the 80GB for $399 but I'm not sure if they play PS2 games.
