Ok heres the story:
Slovenia is a 100% Catholic country if I don't count the immigrants in. We have couple churches for Slavic people which don't bother me, they are very discrete when it comes to masses, they don't praise their God on every step. And there is only one in our capitol where I live. But now the Muslims want to have a mosque there! Now I don't want to offend any Muslim here on the forum but I don't want to have a mosque where I live! Don't want to listen to moaning in 6 in the morning. And what I'm worried the most is first its one mosque, then there are two and all of a sudden there are more mosques than Catholic churches. Its same with Muslim population here. They spread really fast and have 10 children. usually that suggests they aren't very educated. The mayor said he will build one for them since there are so many Muslims here lately and they want a mosque to pray. More of them will come if they build it. Honestly I don't want them here. They don't do any good.

Does the Slovenian constitution have any special references to the Catholic Church?

What kind of references do you mean? We've been Catholic for the past 14 centuries.

Does the constitution of Slovenia actually make specific reference to the Catholic Church i.e. is it a Catholic state? Or does it just happen to be country with a lot of Catholics in it?

Ireland had a line in its constitution that mentioned the Catholic church's "special position" in Irish society. It was removed by amendment some years back, now we're just a country that happens to have a lot of Catholics in it.

Well then I'm afraid you've got no real grounds upon which to complain, you live in a secular state that just happens to have a lot of Catholics in it. Your opinion is still valid on a personal level obviously, just not on a social or national level.

It just makes me laugh that you talk about how Christianity is your Slovenian religion when basically you guys are just converts and so there's nothing different from what you're scared of that's happening now (you're scared of a Muslim takeover) to what happened when you guys all converted to Christianity.

I think Meks argument is that you have already been 'invaded' by one Middle Eastern religion in the past, Islam arguably has as much right to the area in the present day as Christianity did back in its early days in the region.

Well if he go deeper in the history you will find out that we are all Islamic. Don't see a point in discussing something that happened 1000 years ago. This is happening now and I'm a Catholic and people who want to build a Mosque here are Muslims.

Obviously thats why they are building it. But no one wants to have a mosque here, only 1% of our population-the Muslims that live in our capitol. I'd much rather build more churches for Slavic people than for them. Islam is just NOT a way of living here. We are not accustomed to their way of living, actually we kinda dislike it. So I'd rather see as much as possible being build for them. Imigration is a pain too. Theres a pretty big city where people from the south live. Just them in there. Once they expand they might want independence...
