I have several CD keys for XP on old dells, is there anyway I can get a copy of xp (preferably legally) so I can install it on my laptop?

As long as you have a legit key, I don;t think it matters where the disc came from. Just say it was a back-up of the original, which then broke.

Yeah, but it does matter what version it was... for example an XP Home Retail Key wouldn't work with an XP Home OEM version of Windows.

I think these are all the different versions of XP:

- Windows XP Pro Corp

- Windows XP Pro Upgrade
- Windows XP Home Retail

Legally, it does matter where the copy of Windows came from. It is not legal to copy a Windows disk owned by someone else, even if you legitimately own a Windows key.
