whenever i try to play a video file in either windows media player or winamp i only get the sound and visulisations the video itself doesnt show? i have then nvidia purevideo codec but am i missing another codec or is this just something simple?
Have you tried downloading the DiVX player and see if maybe these are DiVX formatted files?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
got divx installed, tho nothing seems to recognise it &&& bad memories of vlc
Use VLC. If it doesn't play in there, something is wrong with the file.
Look on the playlist, if there is a red x next to the filename, click it. Then click web help, then it will take you to a webpage to download the missing codec.
It means you don't have the correct video codec. Check out the AVI Codec Pack
