As soon as they announced Biden as the vice Presidential candidate I thought "ohhhh noooo!". As if the name Obama wasn't enough of a gift to the right wing media.

No you're not wrong at all. But it seems to me like some people have double standards for politicians they agree with and those they don't. I actually enjoy listening to each state brag before casting there votes. They've always done that..
During roll call they tally up the votes state by state (alphabetically). Any state can ask for a vote by acclamation.During the roll call, when New York was called upon for its votes, Mrs. Clinton stepped up to a floor microphone and called for Mr. Obama to be approved by acclamation. She asked that the convention delegates make it unanimous "in the spirit of unity, with the goal of victory." And they did, with a roar.
