ok, the title says it, i am looking for a LCD HDTV . A 17" or 19" inch telly is enough for my needs.

now i want to use this TV with my computer, so i will connect it to my rig, as i currently have a 17" LCD VGA monitor.

now what specs on a HDTV would you say show its good for use with a computer and gaming.

do suggest a few and i'll look around for some

i don't want a dvi monitor, the reason is because in a year or 2 windows seven will come out and that will be touch screen, so i am considering getting it. I don't see the point of spending £200-£300 on a DVi monitor now then £400 on a touch screen in a year or 2. If i get a HDTV i can put in my bedroom when i upgrade.

anyway............

the rig it will be on is:

Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 iP35 mobo
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 Stepping (2.4GHz)
4GB OCZ DDR2 800MHz
Zotac 8800GT 512MB DDR3
500GB samsung Hard Drive
Hp lightscribe drive RW
620W coolermaster modular PSU
Vista Home Premium 64 bit

thanks

What about this one:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134743#

It has 1680x1050 resolution for the PC. While it doesn't have HDMI, you can still use component for HD source.

That's a very small TV today - imagine how small it will be in two years

Why would you want to buy a crap TV today, to be able to use it as a TV in 2 years?

seems pretty good,  my current res is 1280 x 1024, and i still lag in crysis. The small the res the more frames your get in game, thus i would prefer 17"-20" max

tried playing Crysis at a lower res then? :S

you don't have to game at your Monitors native res.

i do, i play crysis on 1024 x 7??

and still i get some lag, but its playable.

trust me, im not too fusy when it comes to a bedroom telly, a 17-20" is more than enough, as long as i can see, then its good enough

I have the same PC specifications, and I don't get any major FPS drop, even at 1680x1050, lower the textures and the shaders settings. And make sure the AA is off.

if you're worried about lag, it's not your monitor that's causing it.

does it need to be a TV? ie - will you have the "TV cable" connected directly from the wall to the TV?
