Cause i seem to have injured something in my knee, and i dont know what specifically or how.  It's in the area of the right LCL, but i havent done anything to warrant it really.  Basically, ill be sitting in a recliner for a while and get up, ill feel a "pop."  Ill feel some pain and discomfort for no more than 5 or so minutes and be limping, then it would go away.   Just appeared out of the blue, very minor, and has been happenin every week or so for the last few months.  Only today the pain lasted a lot longer and was severe enough to warrant advil.  Its wrapped in a tensor for now, and i am considering arranging a checkup to find out what it is.

TL;DR knee pops randomly over last months, mild pain/limp short time, today was painkiller worthy. ??? and doctor visit possible.

The pop is the nitrogen escaping from your knee joint (same thing as cracking your knuckles).

As for the pain, I've had it before. Iced it a few time, other time's I've just ignored it. Really not worth a visit to the Doctor. When it becomes painful, put some ice on it and elevate it.

Well what would explain it getting many times more intense today as opposed to the 30+ other times?

Go to the doctor. I would go to an actual sports doctor (orthopedist). Even if you didn't do anything stressful on it, that doc knows how the joints and shit work. Just set up an appointment now if you can (I don't know where you are in the world) and just try and get it as soon as possible. It doesn't seem to be like an emergency or anything, so if you have to wait a few days, fine.

But if it happens again and the pain is getting even worse, just go without an appointment (to the orthopedist) and see if they can squeeze you in.
