Sapphire 4850 with a Zalman fan

Now here's the thing. I was originally planning to go for the Sapphire 4850 with Bigger fan(The winner of the Previous poll). But when I came across the same card with a better fan for only 20$ more, I reconsidered my decision. And when I remembered how Good my 8800gts has been to me these past few years. I kept reconsidering myself(enough to warrant another poll). So that's why i ask you to pick for me again. I will use this mainly for gaming. I admit that i am leaning towards the Nvidia card because, I am extremely satisfied with my previous Nvidia purchase.(And after the whole x1600 fiasco, ati lost any favor it had gained with me from the 9 and X series they gained). But i've heard so many good things about the HD4850's, that I just have to buy one to check it out for myself. Your call guys.

I've always been happy with Nvidia cards and drivers. BFG 9800gtx+

4850 for sure. The only thing negative I've heard about them is the amount of heat they produce (and that's without the bigger fan).

+'ve : my friend can play everything maxed out in CoD4 with 4xAA 8xAF no problem.

The cards are fairly similar in performance, with the 9800GTX being slightly slower overall, not by much, though. For those prices, however, the 4850 has way better value.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

You've been told in the last thread, 4850. You've been told in this thread, 4850. Sway yourself.

Questioning yourself isn't enough of a reason to make another thread for the same reason, I wouldn't even say questioning the boards replies would be. I understand you want to avoid buyers remorse, everyone does, but nitpicking over a fan and then making a thread about it? Not even that but this one doesn't even make sense. The BFG was an option in the last poll, and it lost, so now your question is between the two 4850s but that's not how you made this thread.

At this point you're better off flipping a coin but I'm not sure if you'd make a third thread asking us to vote on the results of that.

The only constructive advice I can give is go for the first "upgraded fan" 4850 you saw. $20 is not worth a marginally better fan, but a better fan at the same price as the reference board? Can't beat that.

If you don't mind spending a bit more, get the BFG 9800GTX+. My friend recently bought one, and it's amazing. From the benhcmarks I've seen, it seems close to the 4850 in terms of performance, performing better and worse in some games, but not by much. Backed by BFG's 10 year/lifetime warranty, it's a damn good buy. Straight out of the box overclocking, too, I hear.

That's exactly why I'm asking again! I had a real bad incident with an X1600xt 3 years ago that really took me off of Ati cards.

I'm loving my Asus 4850 card.  Everything I have thrown at it has run flawlessly.
