The response could have been much better. You know that, I know that.

But it's easy to criticise the response after the event and look at where everything went wrong.

One of the advantages of hindsight.

Let's hope this time around the shortcomings have been sorted.

New Orleans is no longer the cultural and commercial center it once was.

The city is a site of social corruption, criminal activity, and political wreckage.  When it does get wiped out (when, not if), it wont be missed.

This has nothing to to with the racial make up of the city, the whites blacks and hispanics of the city are equally responsible for the decades long backslide it has experienced.

I understand it's a shithole right now.

So was NYC in the 70's.
