Is there enough power running through the outlet to run this PC?

I was wondering if there is enough electricity running through a power outlet in the average home to adaquetely supply this kind of PC.

* Dual quad-core Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme edition 4.0 GHz
* 8-16 GBs of RAM
* Quad-SLI Nvidia GeForce GTX 280's
* X-Fi Fatal1ty extreme gamer sound card
* The best liquid cooling system possible
* 2,000+ watt power supply
* A 10,000 RPM 500 GB Hard Drive
* A large 1080P HD monitor
* 7.1 speaker system
* Blue-Ray drive

Does that exceed the maximum capacity for your standard outlet? Do I need to plug it into a 220 outlet?

How much would that cost? $10,000?

Running Crysis on max spec

Alledgedly, the GeForce GTX 280 actually ran Crysis on very high spec at 15 frames per second. And thats just one of them. If I had four would it run it stabally?

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. Should I modify the freezer in my refridgerator to house my "fantasy rig"? And drill holes in the side of it so all the wires can come out, and plug into the wall, and the other components of a comptuer, such as the monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc. I I have a sub-zero fridge too. But still nobody can answer my question. Is there enough juice in the electric socket to run the PC with the specs I listed in the original post? Exactly how many volts are there in 2000 watts? I am not an electrician, But I do know that your average car battery generates 12 volts.

What determines your choice of computer components is not if your socket is 110 volts or 220 volts except for the PSU ... if you buy the PSU within your countrys border you get a PSU meant for your kind of outlet, that being 110 or 220.

The amount of watts needed from PSU is determined by your other computer specs and with the specs listed you should do well with a 750W - 1100W PSU.

So the answer to your question is yes if you change the PSU, you don't need a 2000W PSU to match the other specs and you don't need to hook it up to 220 volts if you have 110 volts in your house ...

A little sidenote to the specs you have listed: Your knowledge about bulding a computer seems to have some huge gaps so i wouldn't suggest you build such a machine yourself ... and what needs do you have to justify such a monster of a computer with out of this world specifications ?

Well, The Nvidia GeForce GTX 280 uses 250+ watts. If you have four of them hooked up SLI, thats 1,000 watts just for the graphics cards alone! Not to mention the other parts.

I'm hoping that four GeForce GTX 280's and the other parts will run Crysis at "very high" spec. Thats why I'm building such a monster PC. I heard that not even a Cray supercomputer can run Crysis on very high.

And exactly how much better is the GTX 280 over the Radeon X-800 Pro?

OHM's law, and the effect law (directly translated from swedish):

VOLTAGE=CURRENT*RESISTANCE
WATTAGE=VOLTAGE*CURRENT

An electronic deivice doesn't "use" volts, it uses electric energy, commonly measured in Watts.

The voltage in a wall socket differs from place to place, to take Australia for an example:

They use 240V at 10A.

10*240=2400, and a maximum theoretical output of 2.4kW per fuse. The US basically uses half the voltage, so if you're using 10A fuses, you can get about 1200W per fuse. I think the US uses more powerful fuses, though. No matter what, no computer uses even close to 1200W.

Your socket can handle any computer you can throw at it.

Why can't you run the GTX 280 in quad-sli? Why use an overclocked dual core when you could have a quad core with 3.8+ GHz? It's more power. As I said, go read up on it. Each GTX 280 takes up 250+ watts.
