In times of economic crisis public works projects have historically been used to kick start failing economies. (Hover Dam etc)

Listen, I like McCain's idea of offer a massive cash reward for a break through power supply for electric cars.
Good job, but coming from the oil steeped Republican party is sounds like electioneering. Clinton had set a bill in motion to reduce engine size and fuel consumption. Bush (after getting millions in election funding from GM) reversed the bill when he got in. 8 years ago Bush knew the fuel crises was coming yet reversed a bill which would have put more fuel efficient cars on the roads and even with the rising fuel prices kept the average fuel bill the same. How can you trust a party to deliver on alternative fuels, who ignored the most basic of steps.

We need to get the hell out of shit holes like the ME and instead use our military to defend proprietary industrial inventions like the break through battery McCain is yapping on.
Think of the money wasted in the middle east. Money which could be used to bolster your economy. I doubt the gains in ME oil money pays for the billions needed to fund the war. The cost in human lives and destroyed families can never be reimbursed. McCain wants to continue the ME disaster and the construction of new super bases shows the Republican Parties agenda of creating a spring board to support more costly imperialism in the area. For this reason alone, Americans should vote Obama.

IF the trillions spent on the ME were put into energy research, if the US military brightest minds were used to develop energy to sustain life instead of dreaming up new ways to take it there would be no need to invade, conquer and strip other countries of their resource.

This is hardly even remotely like the Great Depression, so "failing economy" is a bit hyperbolic at this point.

Would like to see the sourcing for those claims. Also, the difference between Clinton and Bush is that Bush says to let the market decide those things...much as the market is doing right now.

The money spent in the ME (other than the war effort) would have gone into energy, regardless of the source. Since the Democrats block any attempts at domestic capacity increases, the money would have gone offshore regardless.

As for your "superbases" claim...again, would like to see a source on that.

Read up on synthetic fuel testing by the USAF. Or hybrid engines on new Army vehicles.

And just which country did the US "invade, conquer and strip...of their resource"?

Regardless, what you say the military needs to do is not the military's function...in any country.

If everyone would just buy a windturbine, I'd be a lot richer.
