I got Vista in the machine, and it's up and running.  All my programs go in a treat, but it seems to dislike games.

So far I have tried far cry, COD4 and 2142.  Far cry wont go in, 2142 did after a fight, but cod4 instals VERY slowly, and this message frequents:

If you click retry, it will continue to install, but the message will keep appearing every few minutes.  Then, towards the end of the instal, it just sits basically.  Doesnt freeze, but it doesnt seem to be doing much either.

So, is it a faulty disc?

It's on vista 64bit btw.

Hmm it could possibly be something wrong with your disc.

When I used Vista 64-bit I was able to install Crysis, CoD4, and BF2 very quickly and without a hitch.

I, too, vote for disc or drive error.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
