But that speech was absolutely amazing.

"In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change. They're the ones whose names appear on laws and landmark reforms, not just on buttons and banners, or on self-designed presidential seals."

pwnt
I had a feeling she would do atleast good, but she did the most amazing thing ever it made me feel great and really excited about this election year. Sure some will argue that Bush's speech writer wrote that, but she put it in her own words and remembered some of her own stories as well, Giuliani and Huckabee did a good job also.

Not really. When talking about Obama changing his position (public finance, Israel, etc), he said if I was Joe Biden I would get that VP thing in writing.. I loled.

Guilani rolled it. He looked very comfortable.

Thank you got correcting my grammar, and also she is real feisty so you wouldn't want to mess with her even if you have a gun.

I find it amusing that people who were "on the fence" over Mrs. Palin's nomination are now so relieved and encouraged by the fact that she was able to read, not just one teleprompter, but three.  She performed very well.

I'm curious to hear what people's worst expectations were.  What could she have done that would have disappointed you?

Who doesn't read from a teleprompter? Your point should speak volumes to the Obamacans as well. You can get a lot from how a person presents themselves. She has been getting blasted these last couple day (guilty). She showed us tonight that she is a fighter.

At this point, the Republicans has fumbled big time. They are on damage control, everything that occurs now is all a front.

To answer your question, at this point, the Republicans have the blinders on, and even if they discover Palin was Adolf Hitler's descendant, the Republicans will spin it one way or another.

Perhaps the media and Democrats would have been better advised to set expectations high for Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech tonight at the Republican convention.  After ridiculing her as a small-town yokel for the better part of three days, Palin would have looked good if she managed to avoid drooling during her speech.  In the event, though, they could have set expectations as high as a Barack Obama acceptance speech, and Palin would still have exceeded them in a tremendous debut on the national stage.

Palin made it clear to the condescending media and her Democratic critics that she is no pushover, no cream puff.  Her nickname, “Sarah Barracuda”, seems a lot more fitting after tonight.  Not only did she defend her small-town upbringing, she attacked Barack Obama on almost every possible front, and for good measure went after Joe Biden and the mainstream media as well.

Palin wrote:

And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves.

I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a “community organizer,” except that you have actual responsibilities. I might add that in small towns, we don’t quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren’t listening.

We tend to prefer candidates who don’t talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco.

What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he’s done turning back the waters and healing the planet?

Her statements had no relevance and showed absolutely nothing that haven't already heard from the McCain camp already.
As for Biden "beating her up," it will most definitely happen unless the debate questions revolves around hockey and what it's like to live near Russia.

She delivered a well written speech with amusing little quips and jabs at the opposition.  That's all.  I'm not trying to antagonize anyone.  As far as I'm concerned, she's as qualified as anyone to be in that position,  because I don't think there's any specific experience that can prepare someone to be president.

This acceptance speech has been treated as some kind of victory.  Because she didn't break down on stage?  I would like to know what she could have done that would have disappointed you?

If she can go toe to toe with Senator Biden, I will be as impressed as anyone.  But she's gunna need more than Sen. McCain's war record and clever remarks about styrofoam set pieces.  Like him or not, Sen. Biden has a lot of experience at the federal level, he's gunna be playing for keeps.

And I don't think she's been getting blasted.  She's experiencing a years worth of scrutiny in a week or so.  When McCain nominates an "outsider"  the hazing is gunna be fast and rough.  And I think she was well warned.

Modern debates are scripted . They are well rehearsed responses to moderated questions. I'd like to see a Lincoln-Douglas style debate though.

I heard what she had to say, and it's funny, I've heard that come out of the McCain camp long before she came into the picture. We'll see what she's made of come the VP Debates. When the teleprompters are off. I just hope they don't turn down the heat for the new girl in town, cause it will surely disappoint those looking forward to an ass whooping. It's also quite an amateur move by saying  "I'm gay for Obama." Good job friendo, grade A debate skills. Don't try it outside of the internet...doesn't make you look very smart.

I think you are jumping to that conclusion. most people giving that impression were already sold. Just like the right jumped to the conclusion about the people falling inline with "Obama christ". Just like people were falling in line with "The Goracle". Nothing new. It was by no means a victory speech. But it sure as hell made things interesting. There is no denying that.

Disillusionment strikes...

Are you kidding, seriously? I thought the candidates didn't know the questions before hand. While extemporaneous speaking skills do not make a good leader, they can certainly indicate who is more established in their principles and beliefs.

Did I hurt your internet feelings? You gave me absolutely nothing to work with. You've made your way from thread to thread saying the same thing about Palin. We get it ffs. Some of us are trying to actually bring an opinion to the discussion that hasn't been predetermined. Your late breaking news consist of "I've heard the same stuff from McCain". Well stop the presses, your  obvious remarks just got obscenely obvious. They happen to be running on the same ticket. There is nothing in the world that lady could have said that would have effected you. Get your feet wet in here before you start calling me an amateur. Next time I won't turn down the heat.

Not all formats are the same. Candidates are rarely caught off guard. I'd like to hear more of Biden as well. 90 percent of the DEM primary debates were Clinton, Edwards, Obama.
