Ok, I have a 2-3 year old laptop. If I get the stripped version of Vista Ultimate (Tiny Vita), would I be able to reformat with it?

Specs:

- AMD Athlon 64 4000+ @2.4GHz, 1MB L2 Cache
- 15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
- 1.25GB RAM
- 100 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
- It's a heavy piece of shit (7.85 lbs )

If it has a DVD-rom then I don't see why not.

The only thing I can see being a problem is the RAM. Ultimate has a lot of useless shit on it. I don't know what Tiny Vista is, but if you cleaned stuff up real well so it didn't use quite as much memory, you should be golden.

If things are laggy, you could try a 4GB USB drive for ReadyBoost.

Of course you can format it... Will you have an OS afterwards?

Did it come with a disk to re-install the os, or does it have partitioned hard drive with restore data on one of the partitions? computers that don't have install disks generally do...

I refuse to have Vista on anything but a dual core.

That means your graphics card is small
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I have many instead.

I installed it in about 15 minutes last night. It runs smoothly on 1.25GB of RAM.

And like utchin said, Tiny Vista is basically a stripped version of the OS. Someone took the time to get rid of the useless components. It works well

How much space does it take on the CD?

According to the thread where I got it, it says 5GB instead of the usual 17.

No I don't mean after install on HDD. The installation files before they are installed-how much space on the CD do they take?

The image file is 716MB. I burned it onto a DVD.
