I'm not really sure how you didn't compare the GOP convention to a Nazi shindig.

We have always loved our flag. I grew up watching politicians with their flag lapel pin and we flew flags outside our house well before 9/11.

edit: I can't believe you guys are comparing the Republicans (and really America as a whole) to Nazis. This is fucking retarded.

I watched it today. MCain had a good ending.. that's about it. I think Palin and Biden will be the real entertainment. McCain and Obama have kept it relatively classy. I think both VP's are serving as below the belt proxies.

And i have grown up with news from the US on a daily basis and it has never been used as much as after 911, and my statement has nothing to do with the GOP convention being linked with nazis ... it was the use of the flag i was referring to and really there is no other examples but the rallys in the 30s that can match it ...

So instead of your news source being biased and/or shift in international coverage after 9/11, we are the ones that changed?

Dude. Nazi party. Seriously, you made the comparison in nationalism.

I think it's often misinterpreted overseas. My Dad flew the flag outside our house when I was young. He served 25 years in the navy. For him it simply meant that he was proud of the work he put in serving his family, his community, and his country.  Honoring that commitment to service is not necessarily taking any sort of political stance or policy.

Hell, a few people around here have flag poles, either with a spotlight or they put it up/take it down every day. I put up the American/state/school flag every day for 4 years in elementary and middle school. We learn about the flag and how it should be treated in school, there's a flag in every classroom, in every gymnasium, in every public building. Showing one's dedication to one's country is never something to be ashamed of.

You'd be surprised at how Conservatives have always been disappointed with the elections. Me and my parents were disappointed at this election until Palin showed up.

Trust me, if I had my parent's knowledge you would be shaking your ass off, but I'm just a 15 year old too young to be able to be in a political party or even vote(but thanks for the karma anyway reaper )

Anyway Palin tops Obama big time, she has foreign policy experience(she has dealt with Russia and Canada before) and plus Lieberman is tutoring her on foreign policy which more and more she is improving, Obama doesn't. Plus 12,000 people showed up at Cedarburg to see Palin, Oh and also 39,000,000 viewers saw McCain at the convention which is 1,000,000 more than Obama, what does that tell you?

So go fuck off libs.

I watched McCain's and Obama's acceptance speeches back to back today. Both were very fluffy, with lots of feel-good language.

What I noticed was that only McCain appeared to truly understand what is within the President's power and control. He described things he knew he could do (bipartisanship, mixed rep/dem/indy cabinet, etc). He didn't say he would do anything that would require legislation to be passed (President can't do that)...he did, however, say how he would work with whomever he needed to to get things done. Obama didn't mention a single word about working with anyone else.

Quite telling, imo.

Still don't know who I'm going to vote for, though. Waiting on the debates.

Bush Jr. spouted off the same bullshit eight years ago.  He wasn't a "Washington insider" or part of the good ole' boys club.  He was a uniter, not a divider.

If democrats and republicans work together, why have two parties?

A Bacheleor of Science in communication can be obtained 4 years without burning the midnight candle too many times.

Obama graducated in Columbia MAJORING in Political Sciences then pursued an even higher education in HARVARD (one of most prestigious Universities in the world...ie: they don't accept half-wits)

Palin's and Obama's academic resume are nowhere close.
Wait, doesn't that make O'Bama a lawyer?  Boy and you know how the common man really loves a lawyer here in the United States.

Also because he went to an Ivy League school doesn't that classify him, quite possibly, an elitist?  Oh hmm...

Mayor of a small town >> Community organizer
Governor of a state >> Senator

Technically Sarah Palin has more executive experience than John McCain.  I think we'll do just fine.

Additionally all the smear attacks don't seem to be putting any chinks in Sarah Palin's armor, if anything all the negative attacks just had people looking to learn more about her (i.e. her 37 million viewership at the convention vs. Obama's 38 million and Biden's, I think, 18 million).

I think alot more people relate to Sarah Palin than the lawyer and Harvard graduage, Barak O'Bama.

"Don't hate O'Bama because he's Irish."  - I got a bumper sticker that says that...lol

You gotta be kidding me Harmor.

You obviously dont know much about lawyers if you think each and every one of them is out of touch with regular people.  Ever heard of public defenders?  My mom is a civil attorney who represents workers who often time are disciminated against by big corporations.  It's insulting to me when you think that bullshit that lots of uninformed Americans buy into.  Lawyers are nothnig more than representatives for people in court, some of them are assholes, a lot of them aren't.

Also, Obama grew up being raised by a single mom who had to apply for food stamps sometimes.  He then worked his way into college, and after getting a degree in political science, went to Harvard. McCain was the son of an admiral who finished fourth to last in his class at the Naval academy.  Palin got a science degree from some small school.

You really hurt your argument, not because of what you're arguing for, but because you're doing it so poorly and don't seem to know much about the situation.

mayor of a small town > community organizer?  Whats the fucking difference?  This isnt a resume competition.  Its pretty sad there are so many people who honestly believe this bullshit the GOP has put out there saying Palin is more qualified than Obama.  What a joke.  And you people now say you want to change politics as usual.  Doublethink plus doublespeak.  George Orwell saw it coming.

Also, you and other righties like you point out that now this is a smear campaign, blah blah blah.  What about the almost constant smears for MONTHS directed at Obama by Hillary Clinton and McCain fucking working together?  Double standards....... christ.

I am surprised as well at how the GOP has affected so many people. They just neglect the notion of common sense and free thinking. They don't even bother to dig under the facade that the GOP is projecting. I mean, I'm baffled that people are SO very impressed by Palin's speech. Just cause she can read a teleprompter and presents herself well on night, the people completely ignore her political history (or lack thereof).

TrueMusou you sound just like the people who bash Obama. "He's just a junior senator, He has no substance, he just speaks well..yada yada". Go back and read some of the comments they were saying about him before Palin emerged.
