I fucked up and accidentally installed a really really bad virus on my computer. It starts everytime I start windows and slows my whole computer down even freezing it sometimes.

I've run an AVG virus scan but the virus hasn't left after I ran it.. what programs could I download to completely erase this thing?

I also tried uninstalling the program that the virus is in (it's called anti virus XP 2008) but I'm unable to run uninstallation.

Fuck I need help

Ok, seriously, how can anyone be stupid enough to run something like that? I mean, seriously.

My vote also goes for reformat.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

First off, the uninstallation is fake. Yes its in Add/Remove programs, and yes if you click the Uninstall button it does attempt to, but it will fail on purpose.

Secondly, lucky for you, AV2008 has been around for a while, so the same damn programs I've been saying on here for the past two months will clear it up just fine.

Again, those three programs are, MalwareBytes (download.com), CounterSpy (sunbelt-software.com), Combofix (bleeping-computer.com).

I downloaded the new AVG off the AVG website. Whilst installing AVG this program suddenly popped up and started scanning my computer so I obviously wasn't aware that I'd downloaded it. I thought AVG downloads were fucking safe.

How do I reformat?

Seriously Freezer, some people don't spend every day on their computer, and don't know it inside out, maybe you should take that into account?

Perhaps it also showed up as a diff. program? It's not exactly like he's gonna install deathvirus.exe, is it?

I had a common virus what made my CPU work on 90% and actually nothing was running. It eliminated my NOD 32 and Spyware programs.
I was not even able to start my PC in low mode and to install new virus programs.

Results were: format c
I was damn happy about it.

If you can download Search & Destroy and check also for trojans with some Trojan Remover!

If you want to reformat, simply right click on my computer>manage>disk management.  Then right click on your drive you want to format (most likely C and click format.  Make sure you have your OS cd available because as soon as it is done formatting, you will have to restart and boot to your cd to reinstall your OS.

Well if you're that way inclined, get ComboFix over the others, its 2.3MB.

Fuck the instructions, just doubleclick to run.

I had that. Damn Keygens...

I used SpyBot and Avast. Skybot to constantly keep searching and searching and Avast on full, constant protection. Slowed my PC down alot but eventually it found it. It's called something like Virtumonde (Well, the one I had was, anyway).

After I got it though, I reformatted anyway
