There are SO many people that want to express their lofty morality by claiming to at the same time agree and disagree with both parties, by which they do nothing but acknowledge that those two parties hold the only valid opinions on the issues and that they don't have the balls to take a worthwhile stance. I guess your definition of independent is my definition of moderate.  When I think of the word independent, I think of the American Independent party.  Those guys are far from independent.  The are right wingers.

I have opinions that might be considered extreme by others and they contradict the platforms of many parties. Best example I could give are gun rights.  I love guns and I am grateful for the fact that I am from a nation where they are allowed, but, the fact that so many people want to celebrate the right to take the life of another human being so adamantly bothers the shit out of me.
