There was woman went into hospital when it first came out because she found it so scary. I remember watching it on TV. they were interviewing people coming out the cinema and they were all like "There's no way I will watch that again"... and as other people have said, we have grown accustomed to violence etc in everyday society.

Basically, it takes more to scare us... there was a film out in the mid 60's that was rated 21 and over only. The same un-changed film is a PG today.

Films these days have bad acting, terrible story lines etc. But I do still get scared by them for some reason, I'm a sucker for them. So rarely watch them, films like Hostel/Saw however I love... I love to be shocked in that way when watching a film.

In the cinema in the second hostel when the shy girl (to those who have seen it) is getting cut with the big blade, and she's screaming for her life. And I was like, jesus... this is crazy. A girl behind me puked into her popcorn and she and her friend left the cinema.

This was disturbing.

Exactly, remember society once went into mass hysteria over a fake radio broadcast.

According to "The Demonologists" By Gerald Brittle, whom briefly discussed that case, the only Devil he mentioned in was Beelzebub. The demons/imps all left after the first few exorcisms, the Devils remained and stuck behind. The Priests did everything they could to save the girl, they even tried reasoned with the devils, the devils inside her gave their ultimatum which was "Believe in God and the Girl will die, Believe in us and the girl will live.", the Preists and her family response was "NO!", because they didn't want the devil incarnate walking around, using her body as a host to the spiritual parasite. She of Course died after 66 exorcisms.
possessed by six demons, including Satan himself, who calls himself Belial (2 Cor. 6:15). The demons, in identifying themselves to Father Moore, allude to several instances of demon possession in the Bible, including one who says it was with “Legion,” the demons mentioned in Mark 5:9 and Luke 8:30. As the demons taunt Moore in Latin (with subtitles), he responds (also in subtitles), “I am the one who comes in HIS name.” By this the priest is making it clear that he is not a lone ranger acting in his own capacity, but operating with the power of God.

Yeah, it was certainly viewed as much, much scarier back then, but I'm talking about the reviews on the internet, from modern day. just google it, and you'll see.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Movies were only scary to me when I was a kid. I don't understand how full grown adults can be scared by films.

Good movie. I don't get scared anymore of movies either. As a kid, sure I did. Last time I was remotely scared, well not scared I just had a raging hangover and was watching Kill Bill, the part where Spoiler (highlight to read):
Thurman gets buried alive and tries to get out. That part made me go deeeeeeep to the bottom of the sofa and I felt hard to breathe. But with no hangover, the scene is no biggie I love good horror movies because I look for stuff that would frighten me. Seems like the only times I feel agony is when I watch something during a nasty hangover
