So my new Alienware badboy came....and I decided to near immediatly install Company of Heroes as soon as I could. I was also fixing up my speaker system and nudged the power cable which turned the entire system off during installl -_-

Now my 1 day old computer is messing up like a bitch. It wont uninstall or reinstall CoH: OF, when I installed Spore, Spore appears to have dissapeared, and whenever I open up the My computer thing it freezes, not responding.....

is there any solution to this or will I have to reinstall Vista...

If you just got it, and don't have anything you need to backup, why not just re-install?

It won't take long.

Hmm....

its an Alienware so do i use the disc titled: Alienware System Recovery DVD?

Also whats the process? I stick the DVD in and it automatically reinstalls? and doesnt take long? Probably the best solution indeed.

yes, i would use that DVD.  but i don't know what'll pop up when you put it in, since it's an Alienware proprietary thing, so you're on your own there.

Alienware give you a copy of Ghost, so just boot that up from one CD, and then install the image they give you on the other CD. There are instructions if you're not sure, but it's super easy.

for goodness sake....Im looking at the manual and apparently I havent got the necessary disc for a reinstall

Let me explain.

I have a disc named System Recovery DVD v3 for Alienware systems.....however I am also meant to have a personal image DVD but there is not one in the manual thing I got...

unless it is one of the following:

Version .41 NF680i SLi (Sounds like something for the motherboard)

Alienware Nero 7 essentials software

Alienware Windows Vista Support CD V1.0

Or is it on the system recovery disc.....urgh this is tiresome....

So i think ive coined I restart, press F10 when prompted...do a full factory restore, then insert this recovery CD which will restore factory settings...

KK, should I do so?

You probably have to burn a hidden section of the hard drive to a DVD. That's how they do it now-a-days. They can't be assed to send you a DVD.

This is why you custom build.

...had to be said.

EDIT: Yes, looks like you've got it.

Don't you void the warranty if you open it up/install your own version of Windows?

I would really really hope that using the install disk they include would not void their warrenty...

Since its a brand new computer... Just call alienware? Isn't that the ONLY reason to buy instead of build?

If i'm not mistaken, the personal image DVD is the one you are supposed to make yourself, if you dont have it that's because you haven't made it yet ...

If you mean the explorer bar (Where "start" is located), right click it and unlock it, then drag it to the side.

FFLink13: I don't think he means that.
Sgt.Davi: Do you mean when you press Alt-Tab?

If so, and IIRC, you have to enable the Aero theme to get that, along with glass-effect window chrome (the UI concept, not the browser named after the UI concept (bloody google)) and those little pop-up windows when you hover over app buttons on the taskbar.

But I could be wrong - I'm on XP.

But I do have a Vista install on my (currently borken) PC, so I think that's right...

it's Windows Key + Tab for Flip3D.  Alt + Tab on Vista is still the regular Alt + Tab from XP.
