As of 2:30pm today I'm now a home owner.  It's a little 1000sqft., two bedroom, one bath, with a big attached garage.  No more flushing money on rent, but apparently I now have "responsibilities".

Guess I have to start voting Republican.

yeah, I saw that.  Did you get a home inspection before purchasing?

We grilled the real estate bitch quite a lot and got that type of answers that never would have made me suspect anything of this sort. We looked through very thoroughly the place and got a normal report from the seller about the condition. We also had a measurement made in place that there's no water damages and it passed with good scores. But the guy obviously didn't go under the building as they never do. The missus is investigating who is responsible for what in these kind of situations and I've calmed down since last night. Gotta put the energy first to solving the problem and then start wondering who pays what, once the repairplan is ready. The 21 apartments that are there have all some sort of troubles, minor or major. Ours just had a bit squeaky floor so that was no biggie. It also happens that the real estate assholes own a part of the contractor company that built them 3 fucked up buildings and the 21 owners have been battling about the faults with the contractor since they were built because it's only so few years old and the guarantee is still valid. The owners did not pass the report of the final inspection that stated that all is well so give the rest of the 25,000€ to us, the contractors. None of this was told to us. Just that some places were under some fixing under the guarantee. Fun, huh.

Good luck to you, Ultrafunkula. Here in the US, in most places, you have some legal recourse if you can prove that the seller knowingly failed to disclose.

Thanks man! We too have the law on our side in some points and we inted to find out very carefully to get the sellers responsible for this little thing.
