My parents want to get a 32" LCD TV (preferably 1080p) and they have no idea which brand/model to get. They're thinking of Samsung or Panasonic. They seem to think Sharp is too bright. Are there any other brands worth looking at? What would you recommend

Here's the ones they were looking at.

Samsung

Panasonic

Is the LE32A553 a Dutch model? when I Google it I get the Dutch Samsung link.

The 656 looks nice though.

There's a couple of cupboards on either side of the spot they have. 32" is the max size that will fit in between them. (that's what she said )

That Samsung is pretty nice. I got my 32" Sharp Aquos 1080p LCD TV for $900. Works like a charm.

My uncle's got that Sharp. I think he paid close to $2200 for it a couple years ago. It isn't even hooked up cause he doesn't have the proper cables for HD running to the room it's in. And he refuses to sell it or call a professional to hook it up.

I dont really see the point in having a 1080p tv if its anything less than a 40'' screen.  Your just not making the most of it.  A good 720p capable screen would suffice no problem imo, and cost less.

Well, just got back from a couple Electronics shops. Turns out one of them has the latest release of the Samsung and it's on sale. $300 off a TV that just came out 2 months ago. $998.98 instead of $1298.98 . The manager thought it was a mistake.

That's what happened with mine. I ordered it off Newegg. It said it was originally $1200 but they discounted it to $900. Hell of a deal.

Sorry to break up your little Samsung circle jerk, but you should really look at the LG Scarlet 32", we just took delivery of one and it is seriously awesome, really amazing picture quality and sound.
