The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. The program that was decided on in that thread is Media Converter SA edition.
It says it has support for WMV and FLV, though it doesn't say if any support codecs can't be converted to/from.
Either way, looks like it may work and is freeware so it wouldn't hurt to try.
