when i first got my speakers this wasnt a problem.  nor when i got the new soundcard.

my speakers act as if my left speaker was infront of me and my right speaker as if it was behind. so if theres a helicopter to my left both speakers will get really loud but if its to my right they get quiet. ive checked connections and googled and checked settings in control panel.

in the creative cmss 3d test when the sound is played closer to the left speaker it gets loud and near the right it gets quieter.

also if i click a speaker in the creative volume panel the left speaker says 'left channel' but the right one doesnt say anything. and when it test the fuzzy noise i only hear it when it tests it from the left speaker.  they are set to 2.1 in both control panels

i have 2.1 speakers. 2 desktop ones connected to a subwoofer. they are connected the right way and drivers are up to date and the integrated audio is disabled. they are set to 2.1 but act like mono or front-back speakers.

any help would be very much appreciated

Edit: Misspoke. You might get what you've got if both speakers are on the left channel. How that could happen in a simple desktop setup, no idea. Unless it is in fact a problem with internal wiring.

I'd double check that they're hooked up right and that your soundcard is set to 2.1. Also, try some headphones set up the same way. See if it still does that.
