i am using a premium account, and my dl speeds seem to vary quite a bit. sometimes i will be downloading 4 things at once, and i will be getting around 150-200 kbs on each one. right now i am downloading 4 and only getting half of that speed. does the country where the person uploaded it have anything to do with it? enlighten me

Could be your ISP too. I get (nearer makes no difference) 1MB/s in the morning time and I'm lucky to reach 100kB/s in the evening time. But yes, try a client like Internet Download Manager

Also depends on the server you pick. For me the Level(3) #2 server always gave me 600 kBps.
Tried it 3 times averaged out at between 480 and 550.

Using the rapidshare manager I get 1-1.4Mb/s with 5 links open. I have managed to hit 2.4Mb/s with 27 links open in firefox.

Internet Download Manager. Seriously. This program is the best program since virtual sliced bread beta 4. Once you've linked it all up to your browser and a premium account, it makes shit so much more easier.
I was getting 300-400KB/s without it, and that was during certain hours. Now with IDM I ALWAYS get 700/800 KB/s when downloading from RS. This program is the shit!
Plus you can just highlight all the RS links and import them into the program and it'll do it all for you in a queue and shit.
