Outlook help

Hi guys, I need some help on behalf of my parents.
We just did a reinstall of their computer, however now that I've set Outlook up for them it won't send emails. Any idea why that might be? It's POP3 account, and I've set everything up with the correct servers according to our ISP's website. Can anyone think what the problem might be? It does receive emails fine, so I'm somewhat mystified. When I try to send, it just tells me it can't connect to the SMTP server. Which it should be able to do.

Here's how to fix

No, I dunno. POP3 usually handles incoming and SMTP handles outgoing, so if you're receiving emails fine then the problem is with the SMTP. Are you sure you got the address and username and junk correct? Can you access it any other way, or is it just outlook with the problem?

I'm trying to sort it using Thunderbird on my computer

All the settings are correct, I've checked and rechecked. ATM we're using our ISP's webmail service. Which is a pain as it doesn't have any of our contacts.

Authentication needed on SMTP? SSL on SMTP?

If you can sort it out in Thunderbird then you can sort it out in Outlook ... same options

It's not authentication. And it's got nothing to do with the email client.

Help,

Set up Outlook how to, follow it.

If you're lucky, Newer CPanel versions(And possibly some ISP's) Let you download a small .REG file that auto-configures Outlook.

Hmm I can't telnet into my SMTP server. If anyone else on here would like to give it a go, then the problem may be with my router.

ISPs tend to block port 25... I use port 465, and an SSL connection to access my mail.
