that things a stinker, they weld like a million audi engines together, damn just get a nice v8 in there, i guarantee that thing gets about 3mpg so you wouldnt even be able to get to top speed without running out of gas

Engine timing...a diet...gears in the transmission, larger injectors, fatter valves, different chip in the puter...any number of things they could have done. I'd be willing to bet that the W16 hasnt been tweaked to its full potential. Personally, I think the Veyron is mega overkill, too expensive, too exclusive, too fucking wierd...but thats what happens when you cut loose VW engineers...they do strange shit.
I dont dislike the car, but damn, when you look at its shortcommings, and basic inablity to use even a reasonalbe portion of its capability, I'd take the F-430 or even the new Bentley Silver Spur. God knows I could get more use ( see play time) out of either one of'em. And with the Bentley, I may even take 3 of my closest friends and raise hell in comfort and silence.
Btw, the price tag for either car I mentioned is considerable cheaper...
