First they do nothing about the terror camps in their own territory, then when someone else makes a move they complain.
They have their own ISI members involved in a US raid, but complain about it being an invasion.

I believe it's waaaaay past time for an ultimatum. In fact, this is just the thing Bush likes to do...only this time, it's with someone with nukes so he'll probably be the pansy he is and decline. So let Cheney do it. "Pakistan, lead, follow, or get out of the way or we will use deadly force on you." They've had plenty of time to put up or shut up, they've had plenty of money, machinery, support, and intel. They've said they care, they've said they're looking for the bad guys, they've talked and talked. They've failed and this is our ONE real mission in the war of terror..to bring to justice those responsible for 911. Not rocket science. Just git 'er done. If Pakistan threatens us, I'm sure we can start giving chinese loan money to India to attack the Pakis for us since we are tied up at the moment....and threatening Iran..and Russia...and probably some others.
I'm pretty sure they lack balls, and any semblance of control of their country. With the new leader, I'm sure we'll continue to see less favorable ties as they give in where Musharaf held strong. Generally speaking it is the done thing to fire on an alien military that comes marauding across your border all guns blazing. You can bet the US would respond in a similar manner if the Mexican army started making incursions for whatever reason.

I don't know what to think of this situation. Pakistan seems to have become a haven for terrorism, seeing that the government isn't doing anything to stop them from crossing their borders. But at the same time, I don't really think it would be wise to start another conflict with Pakistan for two reasons: they have nukes, seems like we're not too well off financially.
Looking at the shit going down in Mexico you would think that the US/Mexican border really isn't that much different from the Afghan/Pakistan border.

There is no way the US would be stupid enough to really cause any real damage to Pakistan, so anything they might say to that effect is just pretty hollow. The carrot is the only option here. Pakistani nuclear technology being passed directly into the hands of terrorists is simply too great a threat to national (heck, even global) security. Imagine a terrorist organisation with say 4 or 5 nukes.
On the subject of Pakistani inteligence shortcomings: accurate intelligence from the Middle East is notoriously difficult for Western nations to gather. I'd be very surprised if the Pakistanis intelligence wasn't better than most Western intel on most local matters.
