Ever since 1.2 the majorty of times itry and play bf2 all server pings read 300+ some as high as 800. If i get lucky and find a 150 server, I join and my ping is 400+! Tho the odd part is that every now and then everything is fine and i can play with a 56 ping. what can i do?
Play on servers closest to you location
I usually do but even those are in the 300 range.
check your router.... shut off your norton security/spyware/adware/anything security program
First, before everyone here says this is blasphemy - I PLAY BF2 ON 56k DIAL-UP WITH PINGS 100-175!
a) All lag is your fault, accept it, computers do what they are told, ya gotta tell em the right things
b) Actual connection lag is rare, its more likely to be graphics lag
b - 1) When you comp compares all the *stuff* from BF2, it will most likely max out your processor. When this happens, everything is at the mercy of your cpu. Less packets are sent and recieved (shows up as a high ping) and less data is sent to your gpu (lowering framerates).
SOLUTION:
a) CLOSE ALL BACKGROUND PROCESSES - this will have the most effect
b) Google "TuneXP" and download and run with the guide at www.secretsofbattlefield.com
If you are still having trouble
a) Overclock your video card (many ways of doing this)
b) Get a T1 Line and call me a liar
When the physics processors catch on (like the AGEIA) they will also help, but they are expensive.
Hope that helps
