This thread is probably worthy of the bf2 help section but if the suspected problem is hardware or ISP I'd have to consult this section aswell so...
I'm having bad connection issues in bf2, ping spikes every now and then (could be down to other people on the router browsing the web) and recently, quite alot of "Your connection to the server has been lost".

I've updated PB, updated firmware on router, tested line speed and closed ALL other apps running in the background to no avail.
I'm using a netgear DG834GT, second hand that has lasted me 2 years (no idea how long the other person had it). I'm on an 8 meg line with no download limit and as far as I'm aware it's not yet been capped, I tested the line speed at 8pm yesterday and it was at 6 meg.

It's one of four things IMO. 1. old router, packing up. 2. Shitty ISP. 3. BF2 being.....well BF2 or 4. Something someone else is doing the same network although I don't think so as I've checked numerous times and its generally just facefuck and myspaz browsing, which never caused a problem previously.

It's wired btw, not wireless.

Mods, if you believe this belongs in the bf2 help section then please move it, but since more people look at this section and we have all played bf2 before I figured I'd put it here.

Thanks

You got any other games to try?
What's the Ping like on your speedtests?
Get everyone else to GTFO your network and try again.

Have you tried port forwarding?  I had similar issues when I first got my wireless router and port forwarded BF2 and it worked perfectly fine.

No idea what port fowarding is or how to do it....I'm not sure it would help though seeing as its been fine for years but no decides to start playing up.

Testing it with other people off the network is a no go untill they're not actually here......teenage brother. As for other games, I have GRAW2 which I could try, never played it online though. Ping on speedtest.net is 44ms.
