I just saw in Everest Ultimate that my chipset supports up to 533MHz DDR2

I'm considering getting this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6820141199

to replace what I already have in my system:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6820134181

But I have a few questions:

Will it actually run at 533 over 400?

If so, will that actually make a difference?

My RAM:FSB ratio is 1:1, and 533 would obviously offset that, is that bad?

I will probably have to manually change the voltage or lower the timings before it actually gets the advertised timings.  Will I be able to do that in this Dell BIOS?

You're essentially upgrading from one slow set of RAM to another. The only reason I'd upgrade is if the sticks you already have get too hot. The pqi's look like they'd disperse heat a bit better.

Edit: depending on what the rest of your rig has for guts, and what your motherboard can run, I'd consider one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi … amp;name=3

If you're on an 1:1 ratio, in theory, there's no point in upgrading that. More bandwidth is always better, but in this case, I don't see any real reason to do it.

My mobo can't run 800MHz and I can't afford that anyway.

533MHz is the max for this chipset (i915G)

From your reply, I'm going with freezer. If you can't afford $100 memory and your MB doesn't support it, then you have several reasons not to bother.
