So, after thinking about what to get for my pc, i came with this:
Mobo: MSI P35 Neo-F
CPU: E5200
GPU: HD4850
PSU: Antec Basiq Power 550W
OS: Windows vista home premium 64 bits
RAM: 4x1gb Geil ddr2-800mhz

This would be around 350euro, since i already got the 4gb ram, and i can get Windows vista for nothing at work.

Any improvements? my budget is around 350/400euro.

Current specs:
Mobo: Asus p5ld2
CPU: Intel P4 2.8Ghz
GPU: Ati x1950pro
PSU: --- 380W
OS: Windows XPP 32 bits
RAM: 4GB geil ddr2 800 mhz

Ahead of the times are we? 4850 I'm guessing.

A better CPU would be ideal. E7300 maybe if you have enough money.

I highly recommend a different mobo like Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R and Corsair 520HX PSU.

405 euro for that combined with an E5200 and a HD4850 doesn't seem bad

The DS3R is a bit overkill. DS3L or just DS3 are by far good enough. Hell, any P35 is a bit overkill. The main point in getting an E5200 is to be able to cheap out on motherboards and RAM. A G31 or G33 will suffice very well. However, those can sometimes be priced equally to P35s, so there is sometimes no point in getting them over P35s.

I recommend Windows XP Professional SP2. Maybe it's just me being disgruntled at all the IM's I get from people trying to get older games to work on Vista.

If you can, get a beefier PSU. I have the step down from the one you listed (Basiq 500w) and its good, but you would have to replace he Basiq if you wanted a better GPU later.

You both seem to have selecteda PSU of around 500W, sure that's enough?

Yes. It all comes down to the quality of the PSU. A good 500W can equal a bad 800W.
