Might be a sticker somewhere on the case.

No, don't think it was.

Then just click activate again, if it is failing, call the number it will give you, tell them you reformatted your hard drive, and you are good to go.

Your allowed to re-activate windows i think a max of 3 times over the net, i think any more after that then as a security precaution you need to ring up and input ur unique ID and they read 1 back 2 u.

I had an XP key and I swear I had to input FCKGW in one bracket.

That would be because everyone had FCKGW-RHQQ2-YXRKT-8TG6W-2B7Q8.

Its on Wikipedia for shit's sake.
