It's worth it for BF2 and SF, but EF and AF are all but dead

Yeah I always play with High detail sound with 2142Wallpaper wrote:
Same or a little better. Tip: turn lighting to low, resolution to you monitor's native resolution, draw distance at 100%, and geometry on medium/high if possible. With lighting on low, maps like Strike at Karkand and Warlord will look ugly, but you will be able to see enemies WAAAAY better; geometry and view distance will make players visible when farther away. Considering that you have been playing at 800x600, dont bother with AA. (inb4peoplewithAAfetishes)Laura wrote:

Silly me.
But yeah, Just wondering, If I could handle 2142 at like everything on High/Medium @ 800x600, What detail would I be able to handle BF2 at?
Another thing, in the sound settings, use medium AT LEAST. Low sounds like a crappy youtube video, and (I think) gets rid of some sounds that can help spot enemies. Also, if you dont have an EAX card, dont enable EAX as it can drag FPS down quite a bit.
Gotta have the full experience
So yeah, It does look like I'm gonna be getting it soon.
Just curious, Will the EA guys be getting on with BF3 as well as BF2, Or as soon as BF3 is released, BF2 is dropped from development (i.e just bug fixes here and there.) I also apologize for that poorly thought out sentence
do it, then get the AIX mod
You mean the lagtastic mod? Yeah I think it's been renamed to lagtastic.S.Lythberg wrote:

Yeah buy it. You shouldnt have problems coping with the new game, because 2142 is basically a reskinned mod of BF2
I see, I think I have it above that anyway because of the PR CTD bug.DeathUnlimited wrote:

What does resolution actually do?
Test it, really. Put 800x600 and then 1600x1200. The difference is like night and day. I would not recommend gaming at lower than 1024x768 in any case ever.
Decent resolution is like AA for me. Can't play without.
I still play on everything low though
BF2 as it was made to be played:
Everything on LOW
exept Geometry (for Vehicles) and AA.
Have phun owning.

Uh, BF3 has only (I think) been hinted at, and the upcoming 1.5 patch will probably be the last patch for BF2Laura wrote:

$40AU for the complete collection? Damn, I remember paying $40 just for SF.
Great buy, theres still plenty of servers for vanilla BF2. SF isn't so popular, usually only 1-2 servers running at one time (3 at most). The one server thats always up is the 24/7 Warlord server.
EF/AF servers are pretty much non-existent here, but its still worth having the expansions for the few times a server is up.

BF2142 is just like BF2, but re-skinned (new guns etc) with some new features. It does have some nice touches, and does give a futuristic feel to it.
I liked 2142. If EA had skipped BF2 and just made 2142, it would have been played as much as 2. I think it's because you guys all played BF2 and learned it so much and labled it an amazing game, you didn't give 2142 a good chance. They're equally as good, because they're basically the same game.
You'll pick up BF2 really easily, except maybe choppers and jets. They're easy to learn, very hard to master.

Why play BF2 with everything on low? It's easy to max the 100fps limited with everything on high with todays technology. Plus, it looks pretty.

I would imagine AF and Euro Forces don't even have servers up and running in Aus. Sf isn't that great.
If you play alot you might as well get the package but if you're just casual I'd stick with vanilla bf2.

I think she will be fine flying the choppers, it's the jets that is the real problem.Sir Schmoopy wrote:
