Current:
e6400
7600GS
No system fan
500 Watt PSU one 12V rail 20 Amps
1 gb 667 ram

Proposed upgrade 1:(about $500)
HD4870
Topower PSU
1 system fan
1 gb 667 ram

Proposed upgrade 2: (about $400)
HD4850
Topower PSU (500W, 32 Amps on 2 12v rails, addition 12v rail with 0.8 Amps)
3 System fans
4 GB 800 RAM

I don't game that much (maybe one and a half hours a week), don't watch movies on my comp, and just want to play crysis at full res at med/high settings (AA not needed at full res) without lag. Should I just go with number 2?

The HD4870 is but realistically, I don't want to fork out another $130 dollars for something that will be like the 8800 - awesome for a few months, then going somewhat downhill.

As far as I know, there's no point in getting 4GB ram unless you are using a 64-bit operating system. Definitely get 2 gb of ram though.

Three system fans doesn't seem necessary unless you are doing massive overclocking. One fan seems adequate.

How many watts and amps is the new PSU?

There is.

I think ATI's suck at running Crysis, do they not?

Pretty sure Crysis is optimized to run with Nividia cards, don't really know what that means though

the 4850 can run crysis on max settings, no AA, 1680x1050 at something like 37 fps according to tom's hardware.

Get a 4850 now and if you need more power later, buy another one and crossfire that shit.

Alright, got the number 2.

Damn, that ram is really unnerving.  First time I've put ram in, and you need quite a bit of pressure.

Yeah. I think a 775 cooler is worse though.

QFT.

I hope the guy at Intel who designed it got fired.
