His budget is $1300, and he wants to order from Newegg.  Since I know almost nothing about hardware, maybe you guys can help him.  Also, he wants a whole new system, including monitor, keyboard, mouse, and a microphone.  No speakers or headset.  He will be doing school stuff, and BF2.  So, make the computer as best as it can be to a gamer's dream machine.  Make sure you leave enough money for monitor, keyboard, mouse, and the microphone.  Throw in an X-fi card in there so he can play on Ultra High sound.  And that's it.  Have fun.

If you added my speakers, monitor, keyboard and mouse together it would be like $750 or something, it all depends on what hes buying for that

Specifically how much money is allowed to be spent?

If it's for BF2, that should run it amazingly and a lot of newer games. If it really is JUST for BF2, then it can be spec'd down alot. I just went for the  best you could get for that price I also highly recommend the Razer Deathadder, and have heard good things about the keyboard. If you want it cheaper, take away the F7P if you don't wanna overclock and go for a cheaper mouse/keyboard and maybe a smaller Hard drive if it's un-needed.

But like I said, wait for someone to check what I've done over.

Most of your money will probably be going into:
Graphics Card (i got an 8600 and runs BF2 perfectly)
Motherboard and CPU  (probably $300 and up (aus price) )
PSU probably need 300w to 400w
__________________________________________________________

Ram is really cheap so 2Gb or 3Gb will be plenty
XP Pro 32 bit
22" LCD screen probably about $350 (aus price again)
Dont really need a fancy keyboard and mouse, maybe a G15?
maybe a 350Gb HDD  (10Gb partition for the OS, rest for storage)
If its for school, then will probably need office.....could always download openoffice for a free alternative
You can get really cheap mics from plenty of places

Just a quick estimate, maybe some1 can edit/build on it?

*EDIT*

ok lol well disregard everything i said lol

go with the above post...he pwned me good

maybe go an nvidia card?

i dont personally like radeons...but thats just me

You forgot an O/S

Not sure if that was purposeful

Looks solid though, if your going Vista (which you probably are) your going to need more than 2GB RAM

Downgrade the video card to an 8800GT then, maybe take away the F7P, add another 2GB of RAM and add an OS.

There are better ways of getting an OS, though...

Yes, I know, I'll ask him if he already has a disc, or if he wants the special method.

I run Crysis med/high with solid FPS on a 8800 GT 512MB

He shouldnt need much more than that, maybe the Radeon is cheaper better, but idk (and no im not a fanboy I just never used a Radeon)

$1130.90

Tell your friend to go to a store and test out the keyboards and mice. When he finds the ones that he's comfortable with, then buy it on Newegg.

Edit...and you get a free 4GB Flash drive with the PSU while supplies last.
