Because they are lighter, better on gas, more reliable, convertible and in many cases cheaper.

Yes I know that there are convertible RX7s, that doesn't count.

I have heard a few warped individuals say they actually think this model or that model of the miata looks good... I don't think they look BAD but pretty damn bland and nothing good about their look either.
I think those that like the looks are like people who fall in love with a homely girl with a great personalty.
They are not really for art, they are for driving.
Most the auto crosses I have been to the Miatas are quicker then the RX7's as well...

And no, I haven't seen the insides or driven one.
There are fiberglass and carbon fiber roof kits so you can loose the look at me I am a fag in my convertible car look.

That's not a 240sx. That's an S13 Silvia. The 240sx in North America has the nose of a 180sx and then either the rear of a 180sx or the rear of a Silvia.

The only time you should EVER buy a Skyline is if you're getting the GTR model. The cheapest one there is, is the R32 and you can still pay up to $40k for a well-cared for one in North America. They're also illegal to import. There are a lot of shady ways that you can do it, but you run the risk of losing the car when you do.

pretty sure thats just a front end swapped 240, maybe a 200sx... but I don't think its actually a Silvia... you can just BARELY see the dash, but it looks to be LHD. US 240 kids (and import kids for that matter) have some strange obsession with anything that comes from Japan.
Pretty stupid considering the 240 front end looks better

Fair enough, I don't know enough about those two cars at all to make any comment really

I know both are good cars, but I'm not a fan of convertible tbh. And the RX looks a lot better imo.

I'd be willing to get it's also a swap. But it's not a 200sx. The 200sx in Europe only came as a fastback, like the 180sx. The coupe body never made it to Europe as a 200sx or a Silvia.

Personally, though, I like the S13 Silvia's looks. I like the Sil80 look even more, though. But I own a pignose 240sx (1990) back home in the US and I absolutely love that front end, too. I'm very torn between the two as a styling, especially with the Sil80 as an option. Ah well.

But I think we've beaten this thread to death. We'll just leave the OP to buy his car and then come and post it when he's gotten it.

*edit* you may also want to look into getting a 240sx early 90's and doing an sr20det swap. Cheap horsepower
That's what I want to do.

1992 240SX looks awesome.  I don't see why they couldn't have just kept that engine in it when it got ported to the U.S. instead of putting a shitty A to B engine in it.

The KA24(D)E is not a horrible engine. Throw a turbo on that and you've got a mean little car. You don't even have to do a fucking SR swap. If you want to do a GOOD swap, put a CA18DET into it. If you're dead-set on a swap. OR! You can pick up a KA that someone took out of their car and then build that up on the side with a turbo kit. Then when it's ready, throw it in your car as a "swap".

You can put together a turbo kit or buy one for around $1500 (if not less if you do it yourself). With a normal-sized turbo on a KA24(D)E, you can EASILY net 200 rwhp and have gobs of torque more than an SR or CA. The CA is also a great engine because it will rev through the fucking roof like a motorcycle. The only reason Nissan stopped building the CA was because it was too expensive to build. But the head on a CA is very advanced, compared to the dumb-downed SR.

Trust me, though, when you look at the SR compared to a KA-T or a CA, the options look much better. Especially since you can have a KA-T or a CA for about 50% less than the cost of a quality SR. Add to that, there is a limited supply of SRs from wrecked and scrapped cars in Japan and Australia. Nissan doesn't make them. SR swaps have been done for the past 10 years, so you also need to think. The best front clips and motors have pretty much all been bought up. There are very few good SRs left out there.

On the contrary, the CAs haven't been picked up anywhere near the way the SRs have been. The CA was also available in Europe from 89-94 in the 200sx, whereas the CA was only in Japan for 88-90 in the 180sx. THEN! when you think about all the fuckheads out there that have thrown out perfectly good (albeit sometimes high mileage) KAs that have all the necessities to be a great turbo engine (under piston oil squirters, for example), you have an absolute abundance of engines out there. Not only that, but you can get a perfectly good KA for $200 that isn't even blown. Just swap out the parts that need swapping (you can buy an engine stand for less than $100) while the engine is out. You can even go so far as to rebuild it. The KA in the 90s was like the VQ of today - it was in ALL of the Nissan cars, thus all of the spare parts are quite abundant. Some of them do not work on the RWD KA that made it into the Nissan Hardbody truck and the 240sx, but a lot is. The parts are also cheap to begin with when you buy them from Advanced Auto Parts or Auto Zone (car parts stores for you Euro folks).

Trust me on this post, guys. I LIVED on 240sx Forums up until I moved to Europe and then I fell out of it since I didn't have a car anymore. But I still have all the juicy bits of knowledge locked in my head.

Yeah, I was gonna say, it REALLY pisses me off that there's all these people using it as a daily driver so there won't be one left for me when I can finally drive.

Do you mean 240sx's? There are plenty of them out there available for sale. I was referring to all the SR20s that got picked up.

Yeah, 240SXs is what I meant.  I just hope there will be one in the next 2 or 3 years that I can get because I want one more than any other car.

There are plenty of other cars, don't be a fanboy. Its not THAT amazing of a car... It was built to be daily driver transport, and stock they aren't really all that special. Have you ever even driven one?

Also, can you name another US car with a longitudinal SR20DET engine stock? Why would Nissan go through all the work and expense to bring it here just so future JDM kids could have the same engine from the silvia?

Nissan didn't bring the SR here because Americans were all about (and still are) engine displacement and size. Remember that.
