I am betting its like that on both sides from low tire pressure though, the only time I have ripped the tire off the bead was when the pressure was too way too low.
When pressure is too low, the sidewalls do most of the support, and the edges wear faster... when the pressure is too high the middle of the tread tends to balloon out slightly so the middle wears quicker. If just one edge is worn its most likely that you toe is out of alignment.
(not aimed at you varegg, just figured I would throw that out there...)
