i having a problem hooking my laptop up to my tv.

if i set the resolution above 1024x768 the screen goes bigger than the tv and i dont know what else to do
i dont exactly know how to explain it, if i move my mouse to the bottom, the screen moves down so i can see the taskbar.

the tv is a panasonic viera (thats all i know, not sure about size)

my laptop has a Radeon HD2600 if that helps

any suggestions?

could it be that this is the highest resolution your TV supports?

you can also scale the TV pic in CCC

The CCC is detecting a max res from the TV and obeys it. You need to use the MANUAL OVERRIDE.

Best you can do is "Force 720p" in the CCC and choose it, and hope your TV likes such a res on the VGA input.

whats ccc

i just went into the tv menu and it had something called xga, so i changed it to wxga

oh sorry, not used to this ATI stuff

i think i need to sit closer to the tv, but it would be nice to have a higher resolution too

Sounds like my TV tbf. JVC plasma of the ancients.

Really though, unless you happen to have a 1080p set (fuck you if you do), the highest you ever would have achieved was 1280x768. CCC is a dickhead, but. I wasn't able to use 1280 until I got a new card (nVidia this time).

I therefore don't have an ATI computer in the house so I can no longer reference the CCC in detail but there may be options in there to disable detection and force allow resolutions (Force 720p for example). Its all under Displays.

Use a lower resolution. Obviously it will not display resolutions above 1024x768, since the resolution of the TV is 1366x768. You've got more pixels to play with horizontally, but not vertically. You want to set the resolution to 1280x720.

Simple as that.
