Yup, I've seen this before. Another downside would be that it is exposed to the 'outside', it wouldn't be good if you have kids or pets.
Be pretty cool if there was like a plastic bubble you could see into on the outside.

There's no way to change the pressure inside the case, sense it's open, which pretty much negates any cooling benefits. You have a bit of air blowing over your parts sure, but it's not as effective as a closed case.

That looks like it would give me nightmares.
It ought to flop. It looks cool, but it's not a practical full time case and there are other, simpler and more accessible cases that fill the same niche better then this case could. A la, Tech Station comes to mind first.
Edit: I can't believe this was designed as a test bed. It's got unnecessary front panel ports and would be just plain hard to access. Gah, what the hell was their intention?
