I've been searching for information on the Internet about the plot by the KGB to destroy the American economy by dumping about $500 Billion dollars. I remember reading about the plan where the KGB saved up billions of dollars with the idea that a sudden release of the money would cause the American economy to collapse. I can't find any information about it now.

I think it happened in the 1980s, but maybe n the early 1990s. The plan involved funneling the money through German or Swiss bankers. they dumped the cash on the market and nothing really happened, it was just absorbed into the market.

I wanted to read up on it because I wonder if the influx of billions coincided with the dot.com/tech sector bubble... which was the first bubble in a daisy chain of bubbles that lead up to todays crash.... And as you know Putin is ex-KGB.....

Putin IS KGB.  It's like a street gang: once you're in the only way to leave is death.

I have never heard of this, but I am wondering if you will be able to find anything reputable, or if that is even a plausible scenario.

I read about it and saw it on TV... it did happen.
It was laughed off at the time because daily transactions in US dollars amounted to $1.2 or $1.4 trillion at the time, so $500 billion was seen as the KGB throwing away money. I'm going solely on what I remember and you would think that this info would be easy to find. but I can't find anything.

@ OP...I remember reading a Clancy novel about hacking the stock market.  I think it was the one where Ryan found out about the plot from some obscure tid bit of CIA intelligence, no one believes him, a war/conflict happens, and then Ryan finds out another obscure tid bit of intelligence, talks with the enemy and the conflict is quickly resolved.  oooo...wait.  That's evey Clancy novel, sorry I can't be more specific.
